Instrument cluster help.

Instrument cluster help.
Ok, after trying to "mod" my stock instrument cluster bezel and failing miserably by cracking the lens, I started thinking that maybe now is the time to do the Denali or Escalade swap. What cluster will interchange with MINIMAL issues? My Silverado is a 1999. If I'm not mistaken the only thing that won't work normally is the air bag light correct? Which year of cluster do I need to perform the swap? I'd do a search here but LS1tech's search feature has been on the fritz lately.

If I remember right Jeff, everything will work but the airbag light will be on. Mine's been on for 4 years now, and it doesn't really bother me (I have a billet steering wheel, so no airbag. )
I think there is a resistor that you can add to shut the airbag light off, but I've never looked into it.

Hey Jeff, you are correct the 99 models will light the SRS/airbag indicator at all times. I just cut the jumper on the back side of the cluster trace PCB ( the LED is hard wired ).
Use the Esco 2000-2002 gauge pod as the 2003+ use an integrated display for steering wheel and vehicle info. You can get them in either the dk blue or silver, I had the blue but the silver looks very sweet. Totally plug and play short of the SRS light.
If all you want is the tranny temp gauge then the Denali 2000-2002 models are fine.
The mileage is stored on the trace PCB itself in the multi-pin IC. You can swap out the entire backing plate from your old one but then the 120 speedo calibration and tranny temp gauge are whacked. Most places you order from give you a sticker to post on the doorjam with the "old" mileage amount or just take pics with a time/date stamp. There are a few places that will swap out the mileage between clusters but they need both at the same time. The dealer cannot do this for obvious mileage scam reasons but can recommend where to send it.
Good luck, I LOVED my Esco cluster.

I ran the denali cluster on my 99. I put a litttle strip of black tape under the gauge face to hide the airbag light. You couldn't tell it was there adn the light didn't show through.

I have a esc cluster, no issues, and no lights, mine is a 2000 though. You might be able to just unplug the airbag light from behind the cluster.
