Intermittent A/C Problem
It always works great unless I go through an auto car wash or its been sitting for a couple days in the rain. The blower motor works perfect but the little a/c snow flake symbol wont come on. When I press the snow flake symbol to make it blow cold air it flashes 2 or 3 times then goes back off. After I get out on the highway for a couple miles it will work fine again like there is a connection loose or something. Usually it takes 3-4 miles on the highway running 60 for it to start working, if I just drive around town it takes longer. I did find out yesterday that a short burst to 120 showing a mini cooper S that big black diesel trucks can move on out that it will start working much quicker Its a 2006 with the auto climate control.

It's the switch on the accumalator. The big silver thing that gets cold when the a/c is running. The switch shuts off the compressor when the pressure is low in the system. It does not mean you have a leak. Those switches go bad.

If it's car wash or rain related it sounds like moisture is getting into one of the connectors, but once it dries out after you drive the vehicle(either due to heat or air circulating in the engine bay)it starts working again. Try taking it to the car wash and get it wet enough that the A/C doesn't work. Drive it home(slowly) and hit every electrical connector(the ones associated with the A/C) with compressed air ONE AT A TIME. Separate the male side from the female and hit both sides with compressed and then reconnect it. Test the A/C after you hit each connector with compressed air. If it starts working after you have dried out one of the connectors examine that connectors more closely. These connectors are supposed to be WATERPROOF, but after a few years they may allow some water to get by. You may have a loose or damaged pin or a poor crimp. You have to look at both the male and female sides once you locate the exact connector that is causing the problem.
