Just bought Royal Purple. How is it better than Mobil1?
I bought 6 QTs of Royal Purple 10w40 at a great $47. I didnt know it was that much till i went to pick it up. Anyway i changed the oil to try it out. It seems nice, and with the can the oil pressure fluctuates less.
What I'm curoius about is if its full sybthetic, and Mobil1 is full synthetic so whats the difference? Mobil1 is $3.00 cheaper per QT, so if its the same I may get it next time.

I don't know if it's better than M1 but you can probably find some test data from here or another site or magazine. I've used M1 for many years with fine results.
A guy here at work said Amsoil is the only true synthetic left...meaning none of its ingredients are from crude stocks. He said M1 used to be like Amsoil in that respect. Apparently Amsoil was the first syn and was developed to withstand the heat of aircraft engines.

I use Mobil 1 or Amsoil or Redline. All depends on how much i feel like spending. But i have never seen a defferance in the oils. Runs the same with whatever oil i put in it.

Royal Purple was first developed for industrial use. I saw somewhere that RP actually lowers engine temps. I used to run it in my bike (400EX) b/c I was getting it for less that Mobile. I think I was paying $4.55 a qt ( I used to work @ O'reilly's). I never ran it in my vehicles and I never checked engine temps. I know alot of Harley guys swear by it. I think its cool b/c its purple!!!!!!!

It does have some additives that Mobil1 doesnt have, but i dont know what they do.
In my Honda i use the Honda Racing oil which is $4 a QT, but with over 2 years of abuse and no oil change its still almost clear. That oil kicks ***.

I have never seen Amsoil locally so I've never tried it. I also never use anythig lighter than 10w30, synthetic or not. Here in Louisiana it rarely gets cold enough for me to need a 5w30 and as far as the summer goes, I'd rather get a mile or 2 less per gallon than have a motor lock up b/c the oil I'm running is too thin. I am probably going to just use Mobile 1 because it can be found at any Wal-mart and they sell it in the 5 gallon jugs for a good price. I might consider Amsoil if I could find it close to home and if its not too expensive.
