Nah, it sounds like a fan more than a turbo (which sounds like a jet engine). I also notice a power drop when I hear this sound. I'm guessing it is not normal, or you'd probably know what I am talking about.

There is a huge cooling fan in there, driven by the engine, and it is very noisy. It comes on around 225 degrees F, and it can come on sometimes if the engine is cold since the fan clutch fluid is thicker in cold temps.
Just glad it is normal. This is all new to me, I'm used to my T/A.

Welcome to the club I got a new duramax crew cab dually last wednesday and she already has 1600 miles on her. I pulled about the last 400 with our boat and it feels like nothing is there it's a great truck.
