Default latching relay

I am trying to install some accesory lights for back up lights on my truck. Here is my problem. I really want to keep things looking factory inside so I bought a fog light swith from a dealer that will fit in the cubby hole where regular cabs have the key to turn on and off the pass airbag( I have a crew cab so I had a cubby and bought the plate to cover it and put 4 switches on like the airbag key). This switch is a momentary switch so the lights will only work if I hold the switch in. I need a latching relay so when I push the switch the lathing relay closes and holds the lights on then when I push the switch again the relay releases and the lights go off. I know it would be a hell of alot cheaper and easier to go with a toggle or something similar but for me that is not what I want. Does anyone know where I can get a latching relay for this application that will work. I don't know a whole lot about this stuff so any help would be great. I think a 30 amp would be fine and I checked Radio Shack they don't have anything.

Thanks

JK

yeah i have been wondering the same thing? i've been wanting to get one to replace the factory fog light switch on my truck. its a pain to have to press the fog light switch everytime you have your lights on.

might want to check out a rear cargo light switch. that one latchs i think

why couldn't you wire them into your existing back up lights. i am taking by saying backup you mean reverse? i have been tinkering with the idea of wiring my fog lights to my low beams. that way everytime the low beams come on so do the fogs. just an idea.

I could wire it into the backups but I would like to be able to use them whenever I want to and also I don't want to be blinding people when I am in a parking lot or someplace that there are alot of other people.
Any tips on the relay.

Sounds like you need to put them on a toggle switch

You can make almost any relay "latching". On the power lead going to your lights (leaving the relay), simply run a jumper wire from that to the input side of the relay that your momentary switch connects to. This is providing you have a separate power source to run the lights that are always on when you have key power on.
