Lets end the weight misconception
I have seen weight #'s here all over the board, and each person claims their scale is certified blah blah blah whatever. My question is, how can there be such a huge fluctuation in race weights?
I know the difference between 2wd and 4wd is quite a bit (maybe 800 lbs?), but some of these numbers people throw out are 5800+, while others are low 4000's or even in the 39XX range.
I also know that many people do weight reduction, but with the kind of reduction most people on here do, there shouldn't be more than 1 or 200 lbs difference +/-
Is there a definitive answer for each trucks weight other than subtracting payload capacity from the GVW? Last time I weighed my truck at the track, it was around 4500lbs with half a tank of gas.

It varies by:
-cab config. & length ( w/in that, step- or fleet-)
-drive:2, 4 or AWD
-chassis/ frame (1500/ 2500, etc.)
-axle setup (10/ 14 bolt)
-yr (which would create changes i.e. block material, safety content, yada yada)
-engine block material
-power adders (all add wtg)
-exh (hdrs or manis, catbacks, duals, dumps, exits & their materials)
-tranny (A or M, 60 series, 80E, 5/6 spd & their capacities)
-different body panels & their materials (cowl hoods, rollpans instead of bumpers, cladding i.e. SS) fiberglass vs steel
-interior trim levels
-bed cover material (soft, hard, liners)
-tires/ wheels (sizes & materials)
-drums/ discs (& their sizes)
-suspension changes (drops, lifts & not just how they're done but materials)
-gas level & fluids
-deleted parts
-extra bits (stereo eqpt, subs, misc. crap)
-driver (ya, it's not part of truck, but it is goin down the track)
-Last but not least, when we've swapped parts (efans, alernators, trannies. Not just the parts themselves, but whatever we took out/ added to make it work)
I may've left a few items/ generalities out, but that should cover a majority of ideas.

well, the best thing to do is find the GM's specs sheet for your truck. my truck (stock) weighs 1920 Kg, which is about 4248# with a full tank of gas and no driver. with me in it, the total curb weight is 4,468 pounds. between going from steel to aluminum wheels, adding the stereo, drop kit, etc. i believe i'm at or around stock weight with no reduction whatsoever.

mine weighed 6400 lbs with 1/4 tank of gas and me (260lb). 3700 over the front axle and 2700 over the rear. Truck is a 2004 4wd ext cab.
No weight reduction, haha quite the opposite.
-Suspension lift (+200lb)
-14b axle (+150ish)
-blower (+100)
-sound deadening (+50?)
-tires (+240)
-air compressors, tank, horn (+100)
-tools (+50)
-subs and box (+100)
....**** adds up quick
