Default A little ping!!

Im gettin a little ping when my engine goes to fourth gear when going up a slight little hill should i go up to 89? Try a octane booster? I have used the Outlaw octane booster and it made me pass my sticker in my aztek should i try it? I was gettin ping around town normal driving took the MAF screen out and it stoped but now i got it going up on slight hills.

I would not use octane boosters unless you pour a bottle in every time you fill up the tank. I would try 89 in the next couple of tanks and see if it helps. Why did you take your MAF screen out? Descreened MAF's affect your truck's tune and it may contribute to unwanted performance like pinging.

Put in some 92 and it should go away.

The hole in your muffler is there for a reson, that is to drain the condensation out of your exhaust system.

Does air comeout of that hole? My friend has a 4.8 his muffler sounds like it has a hole could it be that one that got larger? Wonder what would happen if i made it a bit bigger.

Leave it alone, your exhaust is stanless steel. Some exhaust might leak out but I would rather have a very small exhaust leak then water build up in my muffler.

How many miles are on your truck?
Try 92 or 93 oct fuel before trying an additive. Switch gas stations as well.
Exxon, Chevron, or Shell is what I would stick with. I use 93oct Shell 99% of the time.
If you take a look at the price increase from going from the 87 oct grade fuel to a 93 oct fuel, you will see that it is only $4.00 more on a complete fill up.
That's not much if you think about it.
Make sure your air filter is clean too.
Replace your MAF screen as well. It really hurts your performance without it. (nice power one day, and loss of power the next day).
I think doing this should solve your problem.

Is there any way i can only buy the maf ends not the whole maf setup? I think i have may broken the ring a bit. I think ill stick without the screen and go to 89 if it dont work ill go to 93.
