Default Looking for high performance 16" tire

I need to replace the Pirelli Scorpion Zero 275/60/16 tires on my 03 Sierra and am looking for recommendations for a high performance tire. I would love to get a tire with the same size but so far I haven't been able to find anything. I also know a local place that said they could get me a set of Scorpion Zeros, however they would be old new stock and a buddy of mine was saying that tires sitting around like that can be "bad". Anyway I would appreciate any suggestions, info, etc.

Your buddy is right, tires older than 4yrs. Think about this, tires are made from rubber, a living item. Dry rot becomes an issue; sun & abuse/ lack of care prolly don't help.
Anyway, I have some Grabber HTS's & I'm quite happy. But I gotta go thru foul weather (snow & ice). I already like how they perform in rain & dry.

Is this your DD? Do u drive it in rain?

General makes that UHP & if I didn't have my concerns w/. weather, I'd have tried them. They're an ultra hi performance design, & if 1/2 as good as my HTS's, I'd bet they're a winner.

On a side note, how fast are u at the track w/. your 1900TVS & your supporting mods? Any 60' & 1/4 mile runs?

I had 275/60-16 Toyo Proxes ST tires on my truck before I got the SS wheels. I had no issues with them. Great looks, tread wear, and traction.

Toyo offers the 275/60-16 size in their Proxes ST and Proxes II tires.

Thanks for the info fastnblu and BlackLM7. I usually don't drive the truck in the rain so wet traction isn't a big deal. Those toyos sound nice for sure and I'll check out the Generals too. Oh and haven't run the truck in the 1/4 yet but I'm going to Oct. 31st. I do know that I've destroyed a modded Subaru STI sedan at the stop light and on the freeway.

If it helps, a few months ago, I did a thread on my choices & staggered tire sizes. I wanted to fill the rear wheelwell out, so I went bigger out back & used HPT to correct for speedo.
Even if u don't check it out, might look into Tire Rack & Consumer Reports for reviews. Some great info for sho. An informed consumer is usually a happy 1. FWIW, I was told my HTS's have been #1 on Tire Rack since they came out.
Not drivin in rain; go ***** out & get some UHPs or something to put that 1900 to good use.

Please post when u run at track. If u don't do a thread, PM me. I'm really interested to see what it'll do.

i had 255-60-18 and 285-60-18 Toyo Proxes S/Ts on my truck and just had to replace the front two with the STIIs because they don't make the originals anymore. I have to say that i am very impressed with the STII because it has more traction and is WAAAY quieter than the originals

the 275-60-16 is product number 244020.

Thanks for the tips honeycutt.dewey. I was actually just about to order the S/T's (the General UHP's seem to be nice too but dont come in 275/60/16, only 275/70/16). My old Pirellis had great traction but were noisy as hell so I would love to get a quieter tire. Oh and fastnblu after I go to the track I'll be sure to post a thread, hopefully with some vids. I'm planning to have my Truetrac installed by then and with these new tires I'm hoping I should hook up pretty good.

yeah weve got pzero nero tires on out mustang gt and they are noisy as hell to be as small as they are... my tires are huge and i have noticed a huge difference with the new STII, even though i still have the S/T on the back.

Ya I always thought they were ridiculously loud for such a small tire. Hopefully I'll get those STII's on within the week. Oh and honeycutt.dewey love your comment about your truck being a Ferrari killer! totally made me laugh.
