lowering shackles

Default lowering shackles

on the shackels there are 5 holes, one goes on the bottom, my question is, from the bottom up, what is the distance the other 4 holes lowers the truck, i am extreamly confused.

The 2nd hole from the bottom is stock height. 3rd hole is 1 inch drop, 4th (top) hole is the 2 inch drop. You cant really notice a dif. w/ the 1 inch, so go for the 2.

a guy at unlimited performance in weatherford texas tells me that lowering shackles mess up your pinion angle and such, is this true?
