Default ls1?

Local guy has a complete ls1 out of a 01 vette comeplete with accersories and starter etc. He says it needs 1 piston and rod replaced, didnt ask why, but he only wants 500 bucks for the whole engine, what do you guys think? I already got a 6.0 Im building up but could hurt to have a ls1 laying around lol

You can as long as you make sure the weight is the same on the new piston and rod assm. as the old one. BUT you really need to look closely at the block with the bad piston and see what failed. A lot of times, if they broke a ring land, it cracked the sleeve too. Cost as much to re-sleeve that cylinder as the block is worth.
