LS6 in my future?
I have a couple of questions for everyone out there. First of which I just wanna say that My original 5.3 with 35,000 miles just took a **** on me got a big nick in my bearing which then made me lose oil pressure and spin a few rod bearings anyone wanna buy it? I'm looking to go to an LS6 long block and just use all of my old truck parts. But how do I ground my electrical system? can I use the same headers I had before? does anyone know of the problems in this swap? Thank you!

I'ts easier than you might think. Headers will fit just fine.
1)The ground is in the same spot, by the PS pump.
2)The AC bracket has about 50 bolts, so you don't need the one that doesn't have a hole tapped for it.
3)the oil press sender is different, so you have to get a 1 1/16" oil pressure unit socket to get it out and switch it over. (I borrowed one from the tranny shop next door) You break it-there goes $52
4) The coolant steam tubes are different and you have to use the 5.3 even though it's retarded looking. Just don't forget the little gasket thingys that are probably stuck to the block on 1 or 2 of them (I did, had to rip the manifold back off)
5) Get a new truck dipstick and tube. They're only like $20/set new at dealer. Or you could get a used one off ebay for $25
6) Oil pan and pick-up tube must be truck one
I think the valve covers are the same...But the starter, cam sensor, water pump, etc are all the same.
FYI I bought some 8.1L injectors off Ebay for $100 that do really well with my setup. Plug-n-play. I've got a mild cam - about 440 hp at the crank
Have fun!

Awesome! I apreciate the help. And I have all of the stuff from my 5.3 so it looks like I'm in good shape! I just wasnt sure if you could ground to an aluminum block.

Casey23 was telling me about a friend of his that has and ecsb truck with an ls6/4l60 combo and that it runs 13.30's. I think its a stock ls6 too. I don't know I could be totally missing something here. Maybe he'll see this and chime in. Or you could pm him if this interests you.
Just thought I'd throw this in here in case your wondering about performance.
