Default MAP sensor signal wire advise.

Truck in my sig, 2 bar MAP, SD tuning already done...

If I tee in a wire to the signal output wire of the MAP, will it effect the reading going to the PCM at all? If it does, is it enough to harm anything?

I assume not because people must do it all the time to activate meth kits, but I am using it to read MAP on an Aeroforce Intercepter Scan Gauge.

Any advise? Thanks!

i am not familiar with the gauge but I thought its whole song and dance was it got all that info from the OBDII port. You have a link to its instructions.

Most meth kits use rpm and boost as the "triggers" to my knowledge. Boost being just a hobbs switch and rpm being "T" tapping into the pcm's rpm wire in most occassions.

Yes the guage is suppossed to read manifold pressure from OBDII port, but it only reads negative pressures, or vacuum if you will (stock MAP is 1 bar). But I have converted to 2 bar MAP and it will go to 1.6 PSI boost and that is it on guage. Apperantly guage does not work above that unless vehicle is boosted from factory. Waiting on second opinion on this but no one really knows for sure. Untill then I will have to use the analog input on the guage and tee into the MAP reading to PCM.

And I thought that some meth kits were triggered off MAP sensor, but I could be wrong.

Anyone else?

My meth kit came with its own extra 2-bar sensor that teed off of the boost gauge.

I guess that works, hopefully I can do it without running 2 MAP sensors.

Cool

Can your gauge be modified to read the 2 bar map correctly? I think you need to modify the gauge to recognize the map signal as 2 bar and not 1 bar.

I wish. If anyone new how, please let me know. Aeroforce is saying just hook to analog. I want to use the manifold PSI that is already there!

I just don't understand. If you hook up PC with HP Tuners to OBDII and read manifold pressure to limit of 2 bar MAP, then why can't the Aeroforce Guage do the same?

Because HPTuners has a Custom made PID that is scaled to read 2 bar.

EFILive will read boost from a 2-bar as well once the new MAP is calibrated. I am reading boost on my Aerofocetech gauge and it is accurate within about 1/2 psi.
