I use Valvoline Synthetic 10w 30 with Napa Gold filter which is the same as Wix.
Last oil change i got napa synthetic oil cuz I was on a tight budget at the time.

Basically any name brand (other than penzoil/quaker state) is acceptable. I also use Wix filters.

A friend of mine used to work at a "unamed" major oil change station.
They would filter oil through coffie filters over night and pour the filterd oil into ppls vehicals.
It allowed them to keep the money ppl would spend on oil sincce the stores stock wasnt being used.
They would use just enough store stock to keep coporate from looking at them..

Well that's crappy of them. No pride in ones work anymore. Sad honestly.

I bought 12 quarts of Mobil Clean 5000 and two filters. One was a $8 Fram and the other a $2.50 something or other. My plan is to do a change with the cheapo filter and some seafoam. I'll run it for a week or so and then change it again to the better filter. Run it that way and keep an eye on it.

I've also thought about buying the prefilter for my intake. I live on a dirt road, so the dust is a regular thing. It is winter now and the roads covered with snow, so this time of year I should be ok.

My other thought is how involved is dropping the pan? And does anyone run a magnetic drain plug? Should I get one?

Ok, maybe it already is. I have never changed the oil in this truck, so I wouldn't know.

Just wondering if anyone has used marvel mystery oil and what their thoughts on the product were. I have many people recommend seafoam, and I've used that for a while now, but someone at work said mystery oil was recommended by his mechanic. I did look at it and it looks like you use it the same as you do seafoam, and it's also less expensive.
