Default messed up tranny fluid and filter change....

well, i started my day out very nicely. had the day off work, and figured i would relax and change my tranny fluid and filter and kinda reward my truck for being reliable and trustworthy. well, ends up. i have trouble getting the pan out. hmmmm. damn thing. so when i finally get it to go i musta hit something. heard a click. loud click. looked and didn't see anything. well, i continue on. new filter in. pan on. go drive truck, runs good. on my way back. i heard. clump. and the tranny shifts from od to third. wtf... well get in driveway and stop. then give it gas. uh oh. in second gear starting out. not good. then i happen to see a ses light. break out pred and read it. some bullshiznit on shift control module b, electronic. well, i know what that click was. anyway, ext warranty is covering it. i just have to go a day or two without the truck. no biggy. next time the fluid needs changing, the tranny man is gonna do it. needless to say my relaxing day was shot. oh yea, my dick head old *** neighbor called the law on me about my dog that was taking a dump in my own yard. said he was scared of her. hmmmm, whatever. time to start leaving dead road kill in his yard.

That pan is a bitch! It needs about 1/4 inch to slide off but they put the stupid exhaust pipe in the way. I had to loosen the 2 bolts in the exhaust pipe and pull down with my hand and it slid out. Good thing you have a warranty! And why are neighbors always dicks!!!

Mine was made a lot more difficult when the drain plug wouldnt come off the pan... even my 250lb auto teacher couldnt budge it. It took a solid 45 minutes to do it all, gettin the pan on/off sucked pretty bad. There was a ton of electronic stuff all around there, alot of it unprotected too!

yea, it is a pita. i loosened my exhaust, then pulled on it. didn't work. then i took a small hammer and used it as a lever to pry against the solid part of the tranny to move that black metal piece out of the way. before that i was trying to get the pan off with force. ooops! anyway, my warranty is gonna cover it and since the warranty is not through GM, i might see if the boys at the local chevy dealership will hook my up and say a rebuild needs to be done and throw all kinds of good parts in there. might work, might not. update: my neighbor is still a dick.

Yeah you need am impact to get that stock drain plug out...good idea gone bad if you can't utilize it. I had to cut part of that pan lip out once I got my pan off so it could be taken on and off easily.

That annoyance you are referring to as the bracket needed some persuasion by a prybar to get out of my way.

GM's ideas =

Very ideas. I just bent that bracket to the side as well. Also the whole head of the drain bolt twisted off when I used a 2 foot handle on it. I finally got it out a couple months later when a guy on here said to use a punch and hammer on what was left of the bolt and it worked great.

Dont bet on it! Took me two weeks just to get a new factory replacement in mine instead of a used one from a salvage company. All because of my extended warranty company.

I deal with extended warranty companies alot, usually on your bigger repairs they will send out an adjuster to verify what needs to be done. You can try,but Kenny is probably right. Sorry to hear about your prob, but just remember it could be alot worse. My truck is still sitting under the carport with no engine

You guys are right, I doubt they will do anything out of the ordinary. probably fix the part that is broke and send my truck back out the door. on another note, went out to clean the inside out before it goes to chevy in the morning, found a big log that fell out of a tree and landed on my hood. now i two nice dings in the hood and some scratches. my truck is taking a beating this week.
