I was wundering how manny miles people go between oil chaing on there 5.3l or any gen 3 vb for that matter my truck has 3700 miles on the oil and the oil life monitert still says about 55%. im going to get the oil chainged tommarow eny way. last time I went over 3500 miles thay said the oil looked a litttle dark. what say you guys.

Looking at your oil will tell you nothing about its condition.

I use Mobil 1. I will change the filter and add 2 quarts when my low oil light comes on since that is about 3-4k miles. The next change will be oil and filter both.

I run M1 extended and change the oil and filter every 15,000 miles or 1 year; whichever comes first. 99% of the time, I drive just over 5k/yr, so I just change it every January.

I change mine when the oil change light comes on. Well when it comes on i just find time and then change it.
Ever 3000 mile stuff is rediclous. More like 7500-10000miles or so with good oil. Wont hurt to change the filter half way.
Oil last quite awhile now a days.

My brothers 6.0 had over 300k miles on it in 6 years. Changed the oil and air filter every 10k miles. Still had compression in spec at 350k when the next guy got it.
Truck weighed 10,200 lbs and still got 11mpg.

I use mobil 1. I cahne my oil every 6000 but i change the filter every 3000 and top off the oil. Mine never uses any oil, it is always full.

Mobil1 - change oil and filter ~6000 miles.
241000 total miles. Heads looks brand new without a hint of buildup or staining.

I use castrol gtx 10-40 and change mine every 5000-8000 miles. Ac delco pf61 filter at the same time.
