yes. that is the sensor. but I think he means he can't find the rest of the plug. I don't know how much of the harness is there.
Can someone trace it back and see how far that wire goes before there's a plug?

I probably won't have time to check it but hopefully someone will trace it for you and get pics.

If not then I'll try to on Friday or Saturday

Yeah...You really don't take notice to it until you start looking. It is taped right to the harness between the driver's side headlight and the trans cooler.

It is entirely plug-and-play. All the wiring and plugs are there with the factory wiring harness (taped up). You will just need to buy the mirror (w/plug) and temp. sensor. I purchased a mirror off of Ebay and got the sensor from the dealer. I don't know what they are getting for the mirrors lately but the sensor was like $15.00-$20.00. I do not remember the GM part # for the sensor though. Easy look-up for your local dealer. The only other item you should get at the dealer, if you don't have any yourself, is a plastic push-in clip to mount the sensor. This is an easy addition to your truck. Well worth the effort.
will this be a plug and play on the 99-02 model trucks?

I am almost 100% sure. My truck is a 2000.

It is there. There is a wiring harness in the middle of the roof by the windshield. There is a plug for the compass/temp. mirror taped to the harness. It has the signal wire from the temp. sensor and a power and ground wire. Plug and play.

Usually the trucks without power windows arn't wired for the comp/temp mirror. If you have power windows you should be good.

Thanks for the info fellas...Already purchased an 03SS mirror. Hopefully I can install it soon and not let it sit in my garage like most of my other mods have in the past.

Anybody happen to have a pn for the sensor?
