I really dont care, none of the options is any better to me than the other. My overall goal is to have a relatively dependable 13 flat to high 12s reg. cab 96-02 2wd pickup. Im wanting to spend no more than 15k on the initial purchase price, and then as little as possible to do it correctly on the motor side of things, whether it be 96-98 or 99-02. It wont be a stripped down truck either, as it will be my daily driver for the 2 years or so post purchase until i pay it off. Its going to be the basis for a close to "show" truck style build up.

i vote for a 99-02 then because it would be very easy to get in the 12s with a 6.0, boltons, gears, stall, cam supporting valvetrain. and it would be reliable.

i bought my 01 rcsb 4.8L w/150kmiles on it for $7k is an LS with PW, PDL, Power mirrors, etc.

So let me ask this then, would it be cheaper to try and find a lower mileage 5.3, and then do heads/cam and accompanying mods. I know the 6.0 has alot more potential, but if I could get there with the 5.3 thatd be fine with me and probly cost less overall or no? I guess the reliability might be questionable as youd be taking it farther than the 6.0 would have to go to get the same result, but anyway, just thinking out loud.
