Default MPG with a modded 2500 HDs

im thinking about buying my dads 03 2500HD 4x4 right now its stock with dual magnaflow mufflers. i get about 11.5mpg when i drive it at 75mph. and everywhere else.

the mods would be

electric fans
nelson tune
A2A cooled powerdyne supercharger 6 psi
42lb injectors
255lph pump
410 gears
305/75/16 tires to help bring down the RPMs while on the highway.
stock stall.

do you think 16MPG could be obtained on the highway

i think i could improve millage because the power i would be making. i could drive around and just ease into the gas and have boost pull me around with the TC locked. never really having to accelerate hard.

also i was thinking about switching to 3.73's to help the crappy overdrive ratio.

also what cam would be good for power in the 2000-2300 RPM range when im on the highway?

what does everyone think?

so would i, but i already got the supercharger, injectors and cooler for $1500. not bad for a complete supercharger.

All those mods. and get a beater car that gets good mileage to drive daily! LOL

If you use it as a DD and don't use it for work get a car that gets good milage. I bought a VW TDI diesel beetle to use as a DD and it gets 50mpg. Now I just drive my truck to haul crap.

But, for one the gear swap to 3.73 wouldn't gain you that much MPG to cover the cost of the swap or the small drop in RPM's at hwy speed. All so reduce any and all weight of the truck that you can.

the truck wouldn't be a daily driver. i got a ranger for that. but i take long trips with it and i dont really want to fork out even more in gas. i would rather put my money to having a nice vacation then buying gas for it.

i think its at like 2500 at 70mph thats with 265/75/16 tires. i would like to get the RPMs as close as i can to 2000 at 75mph so i can get some MPG

With the 305's your looking at 2200 RPM's and with 3.73 and 305's you will get 2000 RPMs but like I said the cost of the swap won't pay for any gas savings and you will lose alittle low end with the bigger tires.

Just get the bigger tires. And drive 70!

11.5 mpg seems kinda low. My Dads old '99 2500HD always got around 15mpg at those speeds. Actually, it got around 15 mpg no matter how he drove it. My current truck seems to be the same way, doesn't matter how you drive it, gas mileage only varies by 1-2mpg at the most. In fact the last 3 tanks of gas were the exact same mileage.

I bet the wider/taller tires would eat up any extra gas savings from a drop in rpm. Try some stock 245 tires, they don't handle as well as the wider ones but, mileage is better.
