Default Need help with SES light

This morning on my way to work my '01 Tahoe threw a code. It still runs perfectly fine with no indication of a problem.

Any ideas of what could have tripped it?

The only thing I have done to it recently was add some damn antifreeze!

gotta go to autozone and have them scan it (free). They will tell you what code its throwing. We can go from there.

You can buy a scan tool for about 80-150. I have one, cost my $100, tells me the trouble codes, any pending codes, and gives a description of the code. I use it all the time, good for all OBDII vehicles.

Come back with the code, and someone will be able to give you a starting point of things to check.

You're probably the recipiant of a Loose Gas Cap code! Happens alot. Get it scanned and let me know the code and I'll help you out with that.

It does pay to pick you up a cheap code reader. You could at least scan it and PM me the code, then I'd tell you what it was.

I got several scan tools but....2 out of 5 of mine cost $4000 each...lol...

That is what AutoZone told me it probably was over the phone. I can't get there today and have it scanned as it wont quit freakin raining here in SE Tx!
I have the cap that has a lock on it so after it snaps then I lock it. It seems to freely spin so if thats it then I am tossing this cap out for a regular one.

Hmmmm...I really haven't had any luck with the aftermarket locking gas caps on GM vehicles. They all seem to set the Loose Gas Cap light.

Get you a OEM one, and that may help. But I'd really like to see what code it throws once you get it scanned.

It gave me code 0446. They said it had to do with the fuel system but not the gas cap.
