Default Odd a/c issue

Hey everyone I have a 03 rcsb that I'm having a strange problem with. The truck was a v6 truck and now has a 2000 5.3. It runs fine but I got the truck with the a/c clutch and coil blown up. My buddy owned the truck before me and the a/c did work fine for him until then. I put a new clutch and coil on it and set the gap to spec. I fired the truck up and the clutch engages for a second and then disengaged all by itself without the a/c button pressed at all. I pressed the a/c button and same thing it randomly engages and then disengaged. I got it to stay on and check the pressures and they are fine and it was blowing ice cold. But now it's back to doing the same thing. I've wiggled wires under the fuse box and swapped relays around. I also noticed with the low pressure switch unplugged it will still do the same thing which seems really odd. I checked the wiring from the clutch to the fuse panel and it checks out.

Has anyone had this issue before? It's driving me crazy and it's going to be hot here soon and would like to get it fixed.

Thanks!

The AC engagement on startup is normal. The pcm cycles the compressor on crank and or startup to clear the compressor of liquid refrigerant that settles out because it's the lowest spot in the system.

Past that you need a scanner to do much of any troubleshooting on that system. You need to look a the switch status and refrigerant pressure data and the ac command on off in order to figure out whats going other wise you'll spend a bunch of time and money and get nowhere.

The one other thing you can do is unplug the connector off the compressor backprobe it start the motor and see if you have 12V with the engine running and the ac calling for cool.

The clutch should never engage with the low pressure switch open. It sounds like maybe the clutch coil power wire melted into another wire, somewhere, that is activating it.
