Default oil

it seems royal purple has fallen out of favor, same with mobil one.heard good things about castrol,a lot of bad things about amsoil.and so on with the other brands. the few oil analysis threads ive seen seem to favor the pennzoil platinum. i was wondering, have any of you tried rotellas new synthetic, says its for gas or diesel engines.ive been using mobil 1 since i bought the truck, its what the guy i bought the truck from used. im just curious about this rotella synthetic, its a 5w40.

I will be switching from RP to Pennzoil platinum (if I can get over the fact that is pennzoil) or maybe going back to mobile 1. Might even give Castrol Syntec a try. Depends on what I can get it for.

Pennzoil does/or did have a problem with too much wax in their oil, and it starts to foam up.

i heard something like that.. but i also heard that k & n's are junk and let in "tons of dirt" and will ruin your motor. i still run a k & n with no problems and have in alot of my vehicles.. and its true that k & n lets in a lil more dirt than a paper filter, but to ruin a whole engine i think not. lol...

im wary of pennzoil too(old habit). theres just a lot of **** talked about amsoil,it just seems to have a bad rep.ive not tried it myself so i wont say its bad.. but all of the negtivitly towards amsoil makes me want to steer clear of it. so, no opinions on the rotella synthetic?

I've run Pennzoil since I started driving with absolutely no problems. I currently run Pennzoil Platinum in my truck and it seems to hold up great, I still change it every 3k and it looks brand new im sure I could run it 7-8k with no problems but its not worth it to me. I had tried RP but I didnt care for the way it looked after just a few hundred miles (milky almost).
As far as the Rotella oil, I will never use it in anything I own. A good friend of mine has spun bearings on 2 different motors with that oil in it (not the synthetic blend).

Whoever talks crap about Amsoil or thinks it is not one of the best oils out there has no idea what they are talking about.Run oil analysis do back to back comparisons and see for yourself.
