Oil life not resetting??
For several months now, I've been getting the "Change Engine Oil" message, and no matter how many times I reset it, it will not stop popping up. Every time I do the reset with the accelerator, the message "Oil Life Reset" will come up, but the other message comes back up the next time I turn the key on. One of the mechanics I work with told me there is a way to manually reset the oil life with a Tech2, so I tried that and got the exact same result...oil life reset, then change engine oil. It's more of an annoyance than anything, since I use the trip odometer to keep track of the mileage of the oil change. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and what (if anything) fixed it.

I have never seen this. Do you have steering wheel controls?

I wonder if something is screwed in the cluster. Do you have an extra one you could install and see if you could reset the OLM? See if it goes away.

It's a 2007 1500 Classic. I do still have the old cluster out of my 2003 Silverado. If I have time this weekend, I might try plugging it in to see if it does the same thing.

Well, I can officially say it's not in the cluster. I plugged the old one out of my '03 in this weekend, and the exact came messages came up on it. Change Engine Oil, then Oil Life Reset, and back to Change Engine Oil after I cycled the key.
At this point, the only thing I can think of is there's some glitch in the PCM. Thankfully, nothing else seems to be acting up for now. I guess I'll live with it for now.

Interesting, definitely thought that information was stored in the cluster. Guess we'd have to track down the wiring or something.
When I bought my 06 the OLM was stuck at 50% life. I changed the oil and reset it and it went to 100% for a day and then dropped back down to 50%. I changed the oil again when it dropped to 0% and reset it and never had the issue again.

On the last oil change on my 99 Silverado I also struggled to reset the oil. I had to try like 5-6 times. Normally 1-2 tries is all it took.
I haven't seen if you can perform the oil change reset with a scan tool. Normally that's an option, but not sure if it's supported on the 99-02 trucks?
