Default Oil pressure gauge

My oil pressure gauge has been pegged out on 80 psi for a while now. I'm guessing it's the stepper motor or sending unit. Yesterday when going WOT I noticed the gauge goes to 0 or anywhere in between until I let off then it's back on 80 psi. Is this something to do with one of the above problems or something different. Thanks for any help. Brandon

Yep....mine went out and did a similar thing.

Definate sending unit. Easy to replace but a bitch to get to. They make a specilized socket for it so you may want to pick one up. Im not sure if a regular socket will work.

You might be able to get to it without taking off the manifold. And O'reilly sells the socked needed (***No a regular deep socket will not work***). It goes for about $9.99 and Lisle makes it.

what doofus said

Have to have a special socket and you dont have to pull the manifold. if you've got the ugly *** engine cover you will maybe need to pull that. However, just go from one of the sides (driver's is closer). My arms/hands arent exactly huge, but definitely bigger than most full grown men and I could get it just fine.

Amazon has the best prices on Equus scan tools.

But the price of one of those sensors is like $23, so it's much cheaper than buying a scan tool.
