Default Overheating (Efans)

Hey, about two weeks ago I installed the LS1 efans on my 2004 2500 6.0. I'm using the harness from blackbear and installed them using both plugs on the pcm (33/42 ?) For the past week or so my truck been running find but now its starting to heat up to 215 and idle around 190. What would you guys recommend me doing? The fans are work at full speed.

I just worked on a 6.0 LQ4 adapted into a 1972 Blazer and temp's were always between 200-215...even with an aftermarket Ron Davis radiator and dual electric fans...

whats your Tstat rated for?

if its 190 then i can see those temps, have you checked the coolant to see if its low ? might have a air pocket in the system or something

I had it flushed for safe measures today. The tstat was just replaced from one at kragen so its most likely a 190

Those dinky fans cant cool a 6500lb 2500 truck. The ls1 fans could not keep mine cool, you should look into the OEM truck efans, they'll bolt right up as you already have the big radiator.

I have efans and live in FL, never had a problem with overheating. It's been pretty damn hot the past month or so too.

From the factory your engine cooling system was designed to run about 208-225 degrees. GM does that for emission standards. The problem you are having is probably three fold, one is the fans you have are 6 inches short of cooling the entire radiator and do not pull enough cfm of air. Second would be, as mentioned above, you are using fans designed to cool a 3000-4000 lb car in a 6500lb truck and third your fan turn on temps are probably set too high. The good news is you should easily pass an emissions test.

Solutions would be knowing what temp you thermostat is opening at and change/modify to a know temp. Then programming you fans to come on about 199-208 and finally get a 34" 05+ electric fans.

Mine work just fine in 105+ degree Texas heat even with a big hot tranny cooler in front of the radiator.
