Default P0332 - Do I have to let this kill my track plans?

The truck: 2000 Silverado with an '06 LQ4. The salvage yard I bought the engine from pressure washed it before I took it home.

Now, I'm getting the p0332 "knock sensor low input sensor 2" code. After doing some searching, it seems that this code only appears when the sensors corrode? Or can it be caused by other things?

Replacing the sensor(s) isn't a huge deal, but my main question, is what is actually happening when this code is being thrown? Does the computer interpret this as knock, and pull timing?

I ask, because I'm trying to get a few passes in at the strip tomorrow night, and I definitely don't want to run if the bad knock sensor could cause other issues.

Thanks for any and all help.

^^^ what he said... you can turn down the knock retard from hp tuners...
but ya just switch em' out.. its not a that big of a job.... just make sure you change out that knock sensor harness at the same time... or you might have to pull the intake twice like me

That would be great, if I had immediate access to either of those.

All I have at my disposal is a code reader/clearer.

Really all I'm looking to know is if a few WOT runs with the bad knock sensor will cause any issues. I'm thinking no, but it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

No, it wont cause any issues and it won't cause any performance loss either.

Thank you sir, that is exactly what I was hoping to hear.

The knock sensors will be replaced within the next couple weeks, if I ever get some free time between school and work.

And yes, there will be videos from the track.

Since you're 4wd you shouldn't have any probs launching WOT at the track. Should be well into the 13s.

As much as I'd love to see that, going off of what other people have run with similar setups in similar weight trucks, I'm thinking I'll probably be in the 14.0-14.3 range if everything's working right. I hope you're right though!

There's rain in the forecast for tomorrow night, so I might not get any passes in, but I'm damn sure going to try my *** off. Not only am I dying to know what the truck runs, I just want to get back to the track. I got addicted last season, and I was running in the 16s, I can't imagine how much fun it is when you're not embarrassed about your times.

No worries about hurting anything...but I was under the impression that when that code sets the PCM goes into a pre-determined safe mode which will not allow full timing, which will hurt performance...not 100% sure on that one though.

When the knock sensors go out, it WILL run like ****. I know first hand, although both of mine bit the dust at the same time.
