painting my frame--Appliance Epoxy, need prep tips
So after a lot of reading on something cheap that will hold up well, I've settled on gloss black appliance epoxy paint.
How should I prep my frame? Will washing it, a light run over with the wire wheel & degreasing it be enough?
How good does it need to be, does every spec of rust have to be off or what? I've read that you don't want primer for the epoxy paint, just bare metal for best adhesion. Should I wirewheel it then spray the frame with a rust converter, wait a few days, then do the epoxy paint or what. I'm not sure what to do.
Thanks for the help guys

You won't get bare metal unless you sandblast it in my opinion. Scrape all the wax coating off and then degrease multiple times before you blast. If I was going through the trouble of painting my frame, I would make sure and do it the correct way. I would use a non-glossy rubberized coating as well, but to each their own.

I would think media blasting it would be the best way to go about it. Is it just the bare frame or is it still in the truck? If it is still in the truck, red scotch-brite it, by some good trim black and go to town with that. It wont last forever but it only takes a minute to crawl under it and touch up bad spots. If you have it media blasted, put a good metal etch on it, then seal it, then use whatever type of paint you want. I would consult whoever you are getting the materials from for the best way to prep it.
