Default Parish8 - ??? for you

A few months back, you had some problems with your front differential. How is it holding up? I think the transfer case and rear end are petty strong, but I worry about he front diff some. Any info?

i will give you the whole story. it started out making noise awhile back, geting louder and louder so i riped into it and found the carier bearings all chewed up. it looked like it was caused by the retainer clip on one of the side carier adjusting nuts straighting out and the adjuster backing out.

i put new berings in and tightend it back up. didn't have any instructions though. it was better but still made a little noise. i got instructions and saw that i was suppose to tighten that side adjuster really tight. so i pulled it out again, looked at the bearings,(still ok) and tightend the side adjuster to spec's(had to make a tool), also checked the backlash after this and it was good. now in auto 4wd it is quiet, in 4hi it makes a little more noise than i think it should but it is holding up so far and not geting any louder.

something has to give soon, not sure what part it will be. every time i go racing i expect to be calling a tow truck.

That's one of the reasons I don't like to launch in 4x4, I don't know how long it would take the abuse. I know both of you have put your t-cases and front diffs through quite a workout but I'm still ify about it.
My dealership sent me to school not long ago and on my way home I blew my rear u-joint. I pulled my drive shaft out and threw it in the bed, I made it to my dealer on my front axle. It's nice to know I can rely on it and not wonder when it will give out. That's just my thinking.
