Default people with digital gauge - coolant temp.

ok, i've had an issue with my truck, ever since I have the aeroforce scan gauge I always keep an eye at the engine coolant temps.... for some reason it reads about 10-15degrees higher than the gauge in my cluster? im always worried cause with my a/c on and in traffic it will hit 215-220degrees, (my gauge on my cluster will only read about 200F) so im always paranoid and turning the ac off in traffic, but it will cool off once it starts cruising and it will run in the 190's then.... oh, and i also have a 160degree thermostat in there... so people with digital read outs, what kind of temps are yall running in this high heat? at what temp should I worry about over heating? ive that f-body's normal temps are like 210degrees, is this right?

thanks..

I'm E fans, so it stays where I set it.
But, the dash is very inaccurate.
IMO 220 is nothing to worry about at all.
The stock tune for efans lets it get to 235 before the second fan turns on.
If it doesn't continue to rise, you'll be OK.

I'm with Moddoo on this one, GM lets the motor get real hot in OE tune. I can tell you that e fans are not enough when pulling 8K lbs down the road in heavy traffic but that's a different story. With the A/C on my ECT stays right around 200.

Actually one day i wanted to see at what Temp the factory gauge started moving from its happy spot right there at 195ish..

I commanded for my Efans not to come on and idled the truck up.. EFI Live was reading ~232 before the stock gauge started moving.. turned the fans on high and it cooled down pretty quick..
So yea i dont trust the stock gauge. If it starts moving past its happy spot, your getting pretty hot.

With my modified stock Tstat the ECT is about 170ish. but the stock gauge reads just a notch below its happy spot.

I also have e-fans and according to the average location on the factory temp gauge it looks like 190-200ish.
But on a hptuners and my aeroforce it never gets over 183 and tries to stay at 179 as thats how my fans are setup.
160 Stat as well.
So yeah, stock clusters = way off. Trans is even worse about not being on target.I can be at 170 and it's chilling around 140 on the cluster or when it's cold it's the opposite, 100 degrees looks like 120-130 on the gauge.
Stock gauges = wrong by alot IMO.
