The coils are held in place by 4 or 5 studs. You can get them off pretty easily. Then the covers are mounted to the head with bolts that come off easily. You can reuse the gasket on the covers too.
Polishing them will be labor / time intensive and probably will be pretty difficult. I have an extra set and looked at doing it. The material isn't very smooth and probably wont come out as a nice polished finish. You could clean them up, then paint them with a high-heat paint. Thats what I will end up doing.

mr mix what all did you use?
i polished a little bit on the front end of the right side just to see how it would look.
i think ill get some fine sandpaper and go at it one evening. probably use mothers alum polish since i have a couple cans...
might try some wenol also when i order it for my soon to come wheels. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

We wet sanded with 600 then 1500. After that we use a angled die grinder with a buffer wheel,mothers polish and let it rip.Then we polished by hand. All I can say is DAMN I'M UGLY!!! <img border="0" alt="[whiner]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" />

wet sanding... just spray 'em with water and use sand paper?
