Default random vibration while driving

I have an 03 GMC 2500HD Xcab
I get this random vibration while driving on the highway. It ussually happens when getting up to speeds.
I did notice that my right front tire had a nice cut in the sidewall, so I looked at the whole wheel and tire. The balancing weights fell off, so, thats what I thought the problem was. I got some new wheels and tires and had them put on. It still vibrates. What could this be?
Does anyone have any ideas of why it vibrates.
Has anyone experienced something like this before?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Have the front end checked out. Could be a bad hub bearing, inner tie rod, or outer tie rod.
You could also have a bad u-joint.
Check all of those items, then go from there.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate the info.
This is the first 4x4 I've owned, all the others have been 2wd, which to me were very easy to work on. I havent had time to get under it, plus its getting pretty cold out. I'll have to check it out this week. Last resort is to bring it to the dealer, I am pretty sure its a non-warrenty item.

Thanks again

You never know. It may be an item that is covered.
I didn't realize it was a 4x4. It could also be the front driveshaft u-joints as well.
If these items are beyond your knowledge of checking out, I would just take it into the dealership.
Good luck.

That would be nice if it was covered.
Yup, 4X4. New to me.
Well, I never worked on a 4X4. Its all pretty new to me, if it is similar to 2wd then its no problem. I'll go under and check it out, see what I'm in for. If I am overwhelmed then I will make an appointment.

Thanks again
