rattle noise
haven't really got underneath the truck yet, but on cold starts there is a rattling noise. sounds like it is some sort of heat shield rattling. it sounds like it is underneath the extended cab, but not sure. you can still here it as the truck slows down when approaching a stop sign/light. after about 1-2 min when the truck is warmed up, the noise seems to disappear.
what might it be?

I'm having pretty much the same problem with my 03, and I haven't had a chance to get under mine either. Now that it's warming up again, i'm gonna get under there and check it out. I'll let you know what I find if you haven't figured it out already.

Loose frame braces under the truck will make that heat shield-ish rattle. Last year I high centered my truck and bent the long one into my exhaust . That made the same rattle too.

There's a GM Bulletin the we got a few months ago describing this. Check your heat shield on your muffler.....I reccomend that you clip the 2 flat wire metal bands that strap your heat shield to the muffler and get rid of them.

I've heard this same thing a few times while idling sitting in the drive thru window. I assumed it was my cutout cap rattling cause it wasn't tightened down enough, but it could definitely be the heat shield.

In your case my friend...you may have to explain your noise and when it does it a little more in depth to me....but I may be able to help you figure out what it is.

It does it when you first start it after it has sat for a few hours, i've only noticed it when it's cold out. And it seems to be coming from under your feet or in that general area.
