Default Replace broken wheels, or Prostreet look?

Long story short, I hit a curb after I spun out and did a 180, slid into the curb, and totalled both passenger side wheels.( we wont mention the tweaked axles in the rear)

They are 17x 8 in the front and 17x9.5 in the rear. It is hard to find tires for the rear as I'm running 275/50/17's out back.

I'm thinking about running 15x7-8 up front and 15x9-10 in the rear with a 295 or 305 wide tire with a diameter of around 28inches.

Just trying to get some opinions.
Here's a good side shot

and here's how it sits with the drop it has now, 4/6.

Do you think I would be able to tuck 305 wide tires if I get the correct back spacing?

Thanks guys!
Mitch

I think it looks good like it is. How about just changing the rear tire size to something easier to find.

I did the same thing... I'd get new wheels if the ones you have are already hard to find.... my torque thrusts were discontinued.

I'de love to keep me wheels but the backspacing on the rear won't allow for a much wider tire without rubbing the fender. I wouldn't mind just going 285 but I haven't found to many in the profile to match or be taller than the front.

I've already rolled the fenders all the way around. Going to do some more work on the rear because I know I can get slightly more out of it lol.

I figure I'll just replace the wheels and search for bigger tires on the rear. Beef up the rear with a locker and either 3.73's or 3.90s.

Thanks guys

Your trucks looks sweet. I like the color too, naturally.

I run 305's in the back AND the front on 17x8.5" rims, but they are 31.08" diameter and would be too large for your drop. They don't tuck. Are those the 275/50 R17's on the back in the pictures? That's one of the sizes I am considering for the Tahoe. There are a few more choices in tire at 275/55 R17, those are 29" diameter instead of 28. I know a guy that ran 29" diameter 295's on a 18x10" rim but they would rub the inner wheel well in hard cornering.

This is what a 275/50 R17 looks like on a 8.5" rim on the front: (these are drag radials that I bolted on up front to see if I like this size for all four)

Toyo Proxes come in 275/55/17, 275/60/17 (which I just bought), and 285/60/17...which IMO would be too tall for your truck.

FYI, You could always have a chassis shop narrow your housing 1 1/2" or so, and then cut your axles (or 1 or them) off at the end. There is more than enough spline at the end of the axle so you wouldn't have to have them resplined. We just did that on a '69 Nova so that 295 M/T Drag Radials would fit...and it worked great. They only charged $200 to narrow the tubes and reattach the ends. How much room do you have on the inside before hitting the leaf? I wish I had a picture of the Nova...it looks like it was mini tubbed.

I have about 3 inches till I hit the fender well. But, the fender is where the size comes into play... lol. The wheels just don't have the correct backspacing for what I want to do. I would love to get the axle shortened but I'm trying to get everything I NEED with the insurance money first hah.

I'm running 275/50/17 nitto nt 450s in the rear right now and 235/55/17 up front.

I know a 285/60/17 is a 30.5 inch tall tire but also one I am looking at. If I can tuck it do you think I will have a problem with such a big tire? I am changing my gears from 3.42's to 3.73's anyways

Here's when I was running 275/50/17's all the way around way back when. It's not a great shot but it gives you an idea. If you still want a better picture if your thinking about running 275's let me know and I'll go snap another shot.
