Default Replace Parking Brake Shoes?

Ever since I bought my truck used the parking brake hasn't worked. It goes all the way to the floor and doesn't hold the truck in place at all. The adjustment nut on the drivers side under the cab is all the way tight. Does this mean the parking brake shoes are completely worn down, or is there another point of adjustment?

Thanks!

you adjust the shoe cylinder inside the rotor.. It is done from the backside of the wheel(axle side) you adjust it just like drum brakes.

It's not uncommon to see those park brake shoes fall loose out of their clips, and wear out. Sometimes they are metal to metal, even though the parking brake rarely gets used. The best thing you could do is remove both of the rotors and see what's going on in there. It may be a simple adjustment, or they may need replaced. Only one way to find out.

Ive seen quite a few have the friction material come unbonded from the actual shoe. I tip also is when replacing them I never take the screw out of tge retaining clip. You can just pop the shoe out of the clip then walk it around the axle flange. Took me a few broken screws to learn than, theyre prone to breaking off.

There's an updated beefier clip that you need to install on the 99-02 trucks, so the shoes don't come loose and wear themselves out in a few months.
