Default Seat Heater Not Working

I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and knew how to repair it. When I push the button on the door panel it lights up and the goes out after 5-10 seconds the first time and after that if I push it again it goes right back off. I can hear the relay clicking under the seat when the lights go on or off it just won't stay on. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Truck is a 2004 Silverado 1500 crew cab LT.

Thanks!

Thermostat in the seat has likely gone bad. To check turn other seat on and if it stays on then turn the one giving trouble on. If they both click off it's the thermostat. They have 2 things in common, the circuit breaker which would keep either one from working and the thermostats which tie together back to the control module.

Well, I just did that and it must be the thermostat. Thanks for the tip. Got any advise as to where it is?

You'll probably have to replace the seat heater elements.

This is what I had to do when mine was acting like that. My lower seat heating element was shorting and burning itself and the foam in the seat. I think the lower element was ~$50 and it was kind of a PITA to install.

mine works sometimes and sometimes not. it seems if you turn it on with nobody in it, it works. if your on the seat and turn it on it turns off sometimes after a few seconds sometimes few minutes. oh and if you just turn on the back it works fine.

Sounds like what mine did. It got steadily worse until it didn't want to stay on hardly at all. Your lower element is starting to short out. I would avoid tuning on the lower part of the seat till you get it fixed, cause mine was all scorched and melting into the foam when I replaced it.

I wish I had some pictures of my old heating element and what the seat now looks like under the leather. It was scary.
