i went snorkeling in hawaii and all the seaweed from the reef was rubbing against me and sorts, that was enough for me... i spent the rest of the time in the bars.

Actually no... I was back in later that day. In a different spot though.

Freshwater creeps me out even more. I don't like the darkness of the water. I don't know what's down there... tree branches, those long creepy plants...

In the ocean you can usually see what you're getting into.

Its not the sharks, baracuda, or morey eels that scare me. Its the fact that I am out of my element and cant get up and run like hell and that they are faster and more lethal in that particular environment. I do not like being in a situation where defensively I am at a severe disadvantage.

That and the fact that animals are not aware of death like we are. Nobody tells them "Dont attack the guy with the spear gun, he could kill you" and we check things out with our eyes and hands whereas they check things out with their teeth. Being "checked out" usually means lots of stitches and lost limbs. No thanks.
