$4k takes it home.
Won't start, and ALL of the dash backlight bulbs flash (including the HVAC backlight). I just assume its VATS kicking the key out? I told him to do the relearn procedure but he said it didn't work. It's a 4 hour drive for me...should I just bite the bullet?
Brand new pushrods springs cam & tune with headers on the motor. New level 4 finishline transmission with a 3400 circle d stall 373 gears & locker in the rearend. New denali gauge cluster

The wires down by the parking brake release scare me...
Sharp looking truck!
Video of the flashing lights: Flashing Dash - 2005 Silverado - YouTube
All of the instrument panel lights are blinking (it's hard to tell in this video he sent me)

Sounds like there is some pretty good stuff there for a parts truck but I would be worried........ Not sure what would cause the issue the truck is having but I have heard horror stories of trucks being struck by lightning that were nothing but a money pit. Just my .02

The lights blinking like that may have something to do with an aftermarket alarm system or auto-start. Are the parking lamps also flashing at the same time?
The wires under the dash look like somebody removed a trailer brake controller, and just left the wires that were cut off hanging. See if those wires run to the electrical center next to the parking brake. The harness should just unplug.
Beyond that, it's hard to say what the problem may be with the truck. Does the engine crank over? When is the last time the truck DID run? What's the rest of the story??? I don't think $4K is too bad of a price, unless the truck was in a flood, or struck by lightning.

Doesn't try to crank. He said that it ran last thursday, and then wouldn't start after that. I haven't seen the truck in person, and it would be a hell of a journey down to Oklahoma to see it.
He did say when he tried the key relearn that the lights eventually stopped flashing during each step. I wonder if just a reprogram for the cluster is in order?

He also just said that the parking lights do flash with the dash, the wires by the parking brake are for his aftermarket tranny temp gauge, and the cluster has been in for 3 months.

Like Roger said, sounds like an aftermarket alarm with a starter kill that's malfunctioning. I'd definitely go check it out if it was me and I was in the market. Might be able to talk him down on price too, electrical problems scare the sheet out of most people and he'll have a hard time selling it.
