Tex: Don't take anything I said personally, it's just my opinion on the matter. Like they say, opinions are like ********, everyone's got one. If I remember correctly, you're the guy with the 427 in your SS? If you are, I must say sweet set up! I personally would be embarrased to spend 60k plus in mods on an SS and get beaten by a truck like Parish's Z71 for almost half the money, but eh, whatever floats your boat! I could buy a used lightning for that, or mod a base silverado and have mone left over for a car like a cobra, mitsu evolution, sti, etc.

Oh yea, I know my truck is slow as ****, but what can I expect for 20 grand? I'd sure hope a Super Slow "SS" would be a hell of a lot faster, for more than twice as much.

Nope stock motor in mine, thats Dennis with the 427. At this point, I don't think Jims Z71 could touch that SS. But as we all know, Jim has big plans. It will be very interesting once the Turbo goes in and he swaps over to a built motor.

Thanks for ending our arguement in peace, I would have gone on and on and on lol Yeah, Jim's truck is going to be straight up insane. A 409 with a Turbo, holy frickin' crap is all I can say. It should be quite interesting to see if he can break the 10 second barrier, as that 4wd will definately help him out some.

I do think the SS is over rated a little .. it is certainly misleading being called an SS. If they called it something else, it would be sweet. The SS was aimed more for the professional in mind who wanted a fly *** truck. I had my Z71, it's just to heavy. I swear mine now is as quick or quicker than the Z71 was with the blower. I know I can get a harder launch with this truck than I can with my old one in it's prime.

The Hemi is even more overrated than the SS I think. I'll agree .. Chevy is very conservative with their HP ratings, while other brands like to bump them a little. They may pick the best out of 100 engines or something. Who knows .... I would like to see time slips for both of those. Tex .. what'd yours run with and without your magic carpet in the bed?

just FYI, I just picked up a brand new 03 SS for 30k so it's far cry from 45k, sticker was 40,600 loaded. I didn't buy it cause I think it's fast as hell, not that I'm not going to mod the **** out of it
I got it cause it looks great, I can drive it in all weather and I can tow my 99SS to the track with it. If I want speed, I'll drive my 383 Camaro.
