Silverado SS or Lightning?
I know people here are going to be biased, but that is fine with me. I am wondering what you would do if you were me. I have a 2003 victory red silverado SS with 5400 miles on it in practically perfect condition. I have found a Brand new 2004 silver lightning for $24,995. I really miss being fast(used to have an 11 sec z28), but love having a truck. I also love having awd, and extended cab, but on the other hand there is a blower and 13 second slips with the lightning. I also don't really have the $$ to mod my truck to make it as fast as the lightning because I still have a payment as of now so that throws something like "just put a magnacharger on the SS" out the window. I just want to know what you guys would do if you had the choice.

Had a friend in the same spot. He sold his SS (had 7500 miles on it) and bought a Lightning. "Wish I'd kept my SS" is what he after about 5000 miles on the Lightning.
Personally, I'd keep the SS and do what you could to it.

go drive the lightning and it should help you make up your mind. they are alot of truck for the money and you can't beat having a hotrod pickup with a warrantee IMO. also important to consider the lightning already has a beefy transmission and rearend which are two areas that would need to adressed should you supercharge the SS. I say drive it and then decide 25k is a damn good price for a new lightning.

if you need the backseats it is a no brainer. if you want a really fast truck without pulling the tranny, rearend, and possibly the motor - L. IMO, those two trucks are VERY different. the SS isnt a pure performance truck. it is a great combination though

But if you put a smaller pulley on the Lightning, wont it mess up the warrenty?
I love the looks of both truck but I would rather have a Lightning, but if you pay off some of your truck and save for a turbo like the C Motorsports kit you would smoke and pullied and Chipped Lightning on the road. Plus the Awd hooks with alot of power. If you want to mod with alot of money then go with the SS, but if you want to spend around 600 dollars its hard to beat the Lightning.

If you like utility then keep the SS... In time you can do the basic mods like tuning, headers, and a cam and be well into the 13s N/A, still have decent gas milage and haul the family around or tow.
I like the Lightning but at this point in my life I can't deal without a rear seat are or simply the extra room for subwoofers and crap. LOL
Where are you at in your life????

I would say that if you want a more useful vehicle, keep the SS. If you just want speed, get the Lightning. Looks and utility, not to mention driveability, go to the SS. Speed and sportiness go to the Lightning. I drove a Lightning with a a few mods and it was awesomely fast, but I would hate it in the rain or snow.
