It's better with 4wd than Awd cuz you have the option.
If your starting off with a 2wd and you want to make it awd or 4wd you have to swap frames.

Buy the 4wd with the upgraded auto track transfer case.

I has this idea myself since when you put it into 4wd high it acts just like the AWD system the SS uses.

Since I live in Southern California I don't have inclemate weather to deal with so I got a 2wd, but if you live up north it could be a nice saftey feature so you can tell your wifey that.

Can you use the Denali frame, drivetrain and put a 2000 Silvera.do stepside body on it.
I know the wheelbase is different. What else would be involved?

In 4 high it does have the viscous-coupled transfer case and you'll wind up braking something if you try to drive normally in 4high especially while turning.

You could swap in a NVG 149 from an SS.

Basically yes, but why would you want to? AWD doesn't really offer anything better than 4wd and with 4wd you can save yourself a few mpg and run it in 2wd most of the time.

To answer your question, Wide Open did it, with a drivetrain from a new Escalade or Denali or something. It sounded like a monster, but I don't think there was ever a video, don't think he has the truck in the same configuration right now, and I don't think he's on here that much anymore.
