Sludge in my oil. alot.wtf
I took my truck to get thr oil changed today. It's an 04 5.3 with 110,000 miles and i use havoline 5w-30. Never went over 3,000 on an oil change and never abused. Guy that changed my oil comes and tells me i should think about changing my brand of oil because there was so much sludge in the oil pan when he took the drain plug out the oil would hardly come out. I've never had this happen before and now i'm thinking of switching to a synthetic. What do you all think. He said he had to take a screw driver to dislodge some of the **** to get the oil to drain. If this is true am i in for big trouble in the near future? I was thinking of running this oil about 1,000 miles and hope it cleans up a little then switch to mobile 1 but don't know about doin that with 110,000 miles.

cant imagine why sludge would show up all of a sudden, unless there is another issue and then it'd be a milky color
Flush it, just don't use water sorry, no use an engine flush, sea foam or whatever and change oil again?

Instructions are all over the forum and there is a write up on tech too. Personally I've never used the stuff but if there was sludge in my engine I'd be trying to find out why and make sure I wasn't adding to the problem

Switch oils and quit wasting money by changing the oil every 3000 miles.
There is something fishy going on because I change mine whenever the light says (usually around 6000 miles) and when I took my pan off at 70000 miles there was nothing in it at all. I use whatever name brand oil is cheapest at the time but its usually 15w40. Diesel oil, it does have better detergents though.

You really need to Sea-Foam it to remove the sludge. Seafoam is about the best **** in the world to use. I got shelves of GM Oil Flush and it sure don't do as good of a job as Seafoam. Second...quit using Havoline. I see alot of Sludge here at work and 90% of the time it's in vehicles that use Havoline or Quaker State. They aren't really top-tier oils. The diesel oil as mentioned above does have great detergent qualities in it but use whatever you want as long as it's top tier oils. Don't go with whatever is cheapest at the Advance Auto line.
