Default Snowmobile question

I know it off the beaten path but I need a little help.

I am going to get a 1991 polaris indy 500 for dirt cheap. my question is who makes performance for it? I called a couple of places but I didnt have any luck.

I have a polaris ultra 700 tripple. the best place I have found for performance is the polaris dealer or a local company here in anchorage, ak. their website address is www.goproalaska.com. good luck in your quest for more speed.

500 indy that would be the fuji built 488cc (piston port motor I think)
I would recommend starting off by checking the clutch alignment, belt deflection, make sure the belt is good, make it run like new. Then either buy a clutch kit, or clutch it yourself (a clutch kit is never as good as a custom clutch setup) You may want to change the jetting as well, but watch the plugs, you can put a hole in a piston really fast if it's to lean.

DG and AAEN make single pipes for 89-93 indy 500 only 6hp increase

Try seaching here

I have a 2002 MXZ 800 RER. Last fall I did a little porting to the reed box area into the transfer ports (cylinder reed motor) and installed boyeen reeds, I still don't have it running perfect yet, (it was a very short winter) and I have digital EGT's.

BTW I bleed yellow

I would go to a dealer, they usally know were to go for parts, and after they tell you just go and get them your self so they wnt over charge you. I have a 04 pro x 2 700 and love it, we get so much snow that it stays untill like april here good luck with the new sled

I don't know what sleds are worth where you are but $350 if it runs thats a hell of a deal. It depends on what shape its in and how you plan on riding it. If your just want it to ride around locally, then you won't need to worry to much about it breaking on you. But if you plan to trail ride long distances then you will be spending money on it. Snowmobiles, especially old ones are unreliable and expensive to maintain.

But There is nothing and I mean nothing like snowmobiling, speed, acceleration, being able to go to places that aren't normally accessible, ability to cross different terrain even open water, its just way to much fun.

When your behind the rain's of a 800cc 140hp 2-stroke twin weighing in at 470LBS, when you hit that fun flipper you gotta be holden on to something. I can't wait to try my g-tech on the thing next winter, if I can get it to hook I'm guessing somewhere between 9.5-10.5sec in the 1/4 mile.
