i work for a chevy dealer and on occasion i go to other dealers just for amusement. about 20 times i've been told a 5.3 is a 350. a few times i've been told the 5.3 is a "corvette motor".

OMG 425hp! I need to get a caddy escalade tuner; what with that re-calibrating all the computers and stuff!! If I get two of them would it make 525hp?

Heh ... the guy I was there with wa almost believing it. He said that's what they said, so I dunno. I told him there's no way in hell they are getting 80hp from a tuner, he said that HPP3 and some others claim that, and I said for deisels, not gasoline engines. He was still in disbelief though. It's sad that salesman can be that influential.

A buddy of mine went down to Arizona and bought a 2002 SCSB AS&M "THUNDER" truck. Supercharged,headers,HPP3. He paid sticker price of 51K for it because he was told it would beat a ZO6 vette. Took it to the track and ran a 14.8x. The charger was governed or something along those lines. After blowing his motor he built it up with a stall,4.10s,rocker arms, cam, LS1 edit. He now has about 65k invested on a high 12 second truck.
