Default Someone tried to steal my ride!!! (really long)

Thought I would tell you guys to get it off my chest.

I bought a Maxima for a daily driver and was cleaning it out in my garage with the garage door open like around 7:30pm last night. I moved my truck across the street to put the Maxima in there. As I was vacuming out the trunk, my alarm went off. I walked outside and didn't see anything. I reset my alarm and went back to work. I thought I hit the panic button while leaning into the trunk, and didn't think nothing of the alarm going off.

About 15 mins later, I heard people talking and a car start with loud exhaust. I walked outside my garage and seen a Montero drive away with no lights on. There was a black crown vic with tint about 2 or 3 houses down. I walked into the street because I have never seen this vehicle before. The guy gets out and walks across the street as if he is going to visit my neighbors. Before he gets across the street, he turns around, jumps in his car, and makes a u-turn and leaves.

I didn't think it was suspiscious until I thought about everything that had just happened. I walked to my truck which was across the street and pulled it into the garage. The drivers side weather stripping had been peeled back a bit with and there was marks on the glass from where his hands were.

At this point I was pissed. I called my girlfriend and told her what happened. She said, "oh babe, i was going to tell you there was a black impala driving by your house on Friday looking at your truck. He passed by twice and he had tinted windows with chrome tips and flowmasters." I was then livid because she didn't tell me and he really did want my truck. He has been driving by my house routinely and waiting for the right moment.

Except next time I will be ready for him. There are times when you don't want to believe something is happening, and this was one of them. I live in a good neigherbood and all the neighbors know each other. Never would expect **** like this happening and thats why I was so caught off guard. People have big ***** when you have something they want. My f^$king garage was wide open and I was in there!

It looks like today I will be shopping for insurance that will cover all my mods. I never thought I would have to do that. Any recomendations as far as insurance? To all you guys, treasure your truck and be ready for the unexpected.

I'd be a bit pissed too. I just hope they either total it and seriously hurt themselves or get caught red handed by the cops. I would probably end up putting them in the hospital if they jacked my truck and I caught them.

I have a feeling though .. they would end up wrecking it since it's not your average truck. It takes more than you think to be able to drive it on the streets.

Man, that sucks. Hopefully you catch that bastard next time. What's going on lately, it seems a bunch of our members are running into thefts and break-ins on thier vehicles. I think it's time to pull my truck off the net.

I smell a sting coming on, and they wouldn't end up in handcuffs.

First and foremost inform the neighbor's and call the police and make it known that someone is trying to jack cars. If you havent detailed the windows yet, and can tell there are fingerprints on it, get the police out and do a lil CSI work. My buddy had about 4k worth of stereo **** stolen outta his Silverado that was in his garage. But the idiot tripped and slid his hand down the truck, and also touched the truck from passenger side along the hood, then over to the drivers side. Luckilly, the guy had prints on file and was picked up w/ the stereo stuff in his house, so you never know...you could get lucky.

You said that you had some prints on the window, right? I would have called the cops and had them run through the system. You never know, the guy might have had a record and could have brought him in.
