Default Sorry LOTSOFN...but I gotta do it.... (long)

Yeah...some of you are gonna rag me for this, but I think a lot of us are wondering the same thing but don't want to be the bad guy. Since I seem to have gotten labeled as "negative", I'll be that guy. And then I'll get the "it's totally stock internal, honest" reply, but I've known people in the past who would swear on a bible that it was stock, all the while knowing they had a cam in it. I know we'll never know if it's got a cam...I'm not going to disassemble his motor...and I'm sure no one else on this board will either.

Put a RC 5.3 with ALL the bolt ons and a 270lb+ driver putting out 280rwhp and 315rwtq(before the cam??) with a 3000 yank and 3.73's.

Now take another RC 5.3 with all the bolt ons and a 200lb driver putting out 280rwhp and 315rwtq with a 3200 yank and 3.42's.

According to Chevrolet, the 03 RC stepside and fleetside both weigh in at 4142lbs...so I'll use that weight.
Logic would say the truck with the lighter driver would have the better et...right?? Assuming equal driver skill...same track, same day. Now take out the 75lb passenger seat for weight reduction. Now both trucks weigh the same again..or real close. Both also have roll pans and no tailgate for the 1/4 runs.

So how does one truck run over .5+ seconds faster in the 1/4 without a cam??

Both have all the same mods except for the cutout and servo. Also gears are different...3.42 vs. 3.73, but that's not gonna be .5+ seconds either. I would figure maybe .2 with the cutouts, but that's about it. I would think the 3200 would help close the difference in gears.

It took SOOOOOO long for more than a handful of guys to get to the 13.7-13.8 mark with stock internals, that I don't see it possible for the 13.28 mark w/o little something extra.

Yeah, I run at NPR and St. Capital also, and NPR is a little quicker, but not that much quicker.

I know this post will try to get out of hand, but please keep it civil.

LOTSOFN
13.281 at 99.97 1.792 60ft
Chevy (02..RC..2wd..5.3..E/I/Hdr/UP/TQ-3000/3.73/P/ECM/SL)

I don't see the problem here. Slicks???? BIG DIFFERANCE. You also can't compare trucks the way you have. Too many assumtions. I have seen (several times) Identically modded cars and trucks on the rollers and come out with differances of 8 to 12 rwhp back to back. Was there a problem when he went 13.51? well, that is only .23 different. There could be a lot of factors that come into play on this.

You are correct about this heading for a lock though. As for you being negative, well.... The problem I have with you is that you have to question anyone who's getting more out of there mods than you. That's the way I feel. To much critisizm and not enough support. I've been to NPR also and looking forward to this years Shootout.

He .5+ seconds faster than anyone on the board with bolt ons only....yeah, including me.

I put out the same on the dyno.
quote:

Also, I did question the 13.51 but didn't speak up.

And yeah, there could be a lot of factors that come into the et difference (cam??), but not to the tune of .5+ seconds. Hell, he's still running generic Superchips tuning and that alone slowed me down .2 over the HPP3 due to the shift points.

The only way to properly compare the 2 trucks your talking about is to list the mods side by side with dyno and wieghts. Other than that, you what assumptions do. I'm not getting in a pissing match on this one with you.

quote:
I never once complained that I don't get the same out of my mods that everyone else may get...hell, I was getting more out of mine than most, I thought...It took some time, but 13.8 was holding up a long time for top stock internal...either by me or oxidizer.

Then why are you usually the first to throw up the sign when someone comes along and posts what they have done.

There is no way to prove if guys are telling the truth or not unless there are witnesses that don't really know each other. Or videos of the pass. Still, there is no way to prove who is telling the truth on there mods. Hell, when we started the list, I was some where in the top 10 out of the first 25. Look at me now, 40 something. What bugs the hell out of me is guys that come on the board just to post times and then go AWOL (joejoe). I'm thinking about changing that to minimum post count to be on the top list and grouping all the others together. Either way, relax a little and start posting some more compliments once in a while.

I think that's a good idea.Seems only right that you be a regular particapant of the board in order to qualify to be on the list.
As far as knowing the truth about someones mods....unfortunatly...I think we all know there will allway be guys out there that will only let you in on part of what they have.
In LOTSOFN's case...I think he is legit, unless someone can prove otherwise. He's been very open about his mods and has shown videos. With his mods and a good driver,i say it's very doable with his set up.All my years i've been around cars...one things for sure,2 cars with same setup don't allways run the same.
When i was racing 4-wheelers I constanlty would get beat by a freind of mine with the exact same setup as me.He just knew how to ride better and get more out of it then I could.
Ok...enough rambling..sorry so long.

Well I think all of ya'll claiming to be in the 13's with bolt-ons and stock internals are full of ! And yes I am complaining that I'm not getting as much out of my bolt-ons as ya'll are. Look, I've got every bolt-on they sell and my sorry *** truck will only run 14.8!
It kills me to see you guys post that B.S.
How come my truck won't run that fast? After all you just bolt this shat on right!

Damn red53gmc,judging by that long *** post somebody's upset.
I know I probably can't change your mind but here goes.First off my truck has 7,545 miles on it,there is no way I would crack it open to do any motor work(yet)
I like what you said earlier about having the same mods I do"exept"servo,cut-out,3.73,programming and I know you don't have the same air box because I made mine
If you have a problem believing my run try this:COKEHEAD(a friend of mine, posted one time a little while back)RC/Stepside,3.73,YANK 3200,SUPERCHIPS,FMS Y-pipe,cut-out,160 therm.,free mods,K&N cold air,26/10.5/16 et streets 13.59 at 97 mph with stock manifolds (I'm sure you won't believe that either)
Besides that really don't have anything else to say except for stop being such a damn hatter!

PS. I didn't have my helment on when I ran that 13.28 so maybe I shouldn't be on the list.(lets see who catches that)
