Default spare tire

i have a 03 silverado i can't release my spare tire the cable will drop but my secondary latch won't release please help

crawl under there and beat the hell outta it or what ever is needed. I took mine off and used a bike cable to keep it in the back of the bed.

Sounds like the Hoist is bad. They are notorious for failing and leaving your spare locked up. I have to agree, I would bang it a bit and see if that will free up enough slack to get an inch or two and then use some cable cutter and cut the hoise cable. If you want it to work properly, you'll have to replace the hoise assembly.

thanks for the help i ended up removing the hoist and pressing in and removing the saftey latch it was rusted bad everything is working great thanks again
