It used to be .060" for the original AcDelco plugs, but they changed the design and all the new plugs and all aftermarket plugs are supposed to be set at .040" now.

And according to my NGK book, 07+ is actually .044" gap.

Don't look at the listed specs when changing out the original equipment to something different, the different metals require different gaps...if the truck came with iridium plugs and you change them out for a copper plug, you've just changed the resistance in the secondary ignition system, and theoretically could wear the plugs faster, burn out a coil, or cause other problems (that probably won't happen, but "theoretically" could). the truck will run fine with the smaller gap on a copper plug, but will be most efficient with the larger gaps. If you want to run the smaller gap, run the iridium plug that the gap was intended for, but if you're switching out the OE parts for something that it wasn't designed for, you have to make adjustments to compensate...make sense? The spark dwell has been changed in the tune for the iridium plugs also, and changing the metal of the conductor will have an affect on the way that works when the spark jumps the gap.

BTW, I'm currently running NGK TR55's gapped at .055, but have a set of NGK TR55ix's that will be going in when these wear out or when I swap in my LQ9, which ever comes first...those NGK's will be gapped at .040 which is where I believe they are pre-gapped to.
