Got an update from dad. After work he went out to try and do the vats thing, but the truck started right up. Drove it around for a bit and everything was normal again. Weird stuff. Thanks for all the help guys.

mine does this once in a blue moon, its that security **** malfunctioning... in my case at least.

wait, every other time i disconnect my battery it does that. to fix it, i dc it again and then plug it back in, and all is well.
