Default Stuck B/t FlowM. and Magna.

I don't want the SOS about Flowmaster saying "they suck, etc." unless yall got actual dyno results or tried it; I hear most people just go with what others say. I hear different things but my dad says go with the Flowmasters since I'm running stock anyways (he had one on his old truck and lasted over 100,000 miles and liked it-sold now) and the muffler shop guys say to go with that too. Then, Magnaflow has the straight through design or whatever but doesn't sound as good everyone SAYS, but does the design really help? Trust me, I've looked everywhere for comparisons- I'm going for sound and gains. I know yall are sick of Flowmaster posts; I am too but I just need a good answer instead of "i heard..."

First off, I got a 2002 ext. cab w/ a 4.8 stock and I want a deep sound w/ not much, if any, resonance. I'm looking at the Flowmaster 40 Series or the Magnaflow. So, if yall got personal experience or dyno results, that will really help. Thanks.

Any flowmaster is going to give you resonance in the cab. Do an 18 to 22 inch long magnaflow no resonance, deep tone, nice wot growl, without being cop catching loud.
I using a 24" case magnaflow and it has a great growl to it at wot, but it's very deep and mellow any other time.

Here is an actual flow comparison chart. The ultra flow ss's are as close as it gets to the same style as a magnaflow.

There used to be a chart on LS1Tech a few years ago that had flow numbers of a bunch of popular mufflers, and no mufflers. I think there was about 15-20 mufflers on there IIRC. Unfortunately I can't find the chart, but I remember that FlowMaster was in the bottom 3, which sucks because I've always liked the way that they sound. If you're looking to squeak every last HP out of your set up, then go for something with a straight through design. If sound is your main concern, then go with whatever you prefer...if you love that Flowmater sound, then go for it

Alright, thank you. Looks like I'll be looking back into some Magnaflows. There's many people that say that aren't as loud but it's at least noticeable, right? (Enough to turn heads when taking off?)

if you want a loud one get a shorter one like around a 14" long case

I lost 21 RWHP with the single flowmaster vs open ypipe on the dyno, however I will keep mine because to me there is nothing else out there that sounds as good as a flowmaster 40 and I can always open the cutout when needed.

ever looked at Spintech??? they sound a lot better than flowmaster IMO... theyre still chambered but I think they flow a little better too... get their Pro Street series and it shouldnt be too loud either, they offer complete 3" cat-backs too if Im not mistaken
