Default Swapping MAF's

I'm thinking about this more from an appearance standpoint than performance, but here's the question. Has anyone considered/swapped the MAF in the trucks for one from an F-body? I realize the truck has a 4 or 5 wire hook up on the MAF for MAF signal and IAT signal. The thought I'd had was swapping over to the Fbody MAF and putting an IAT in the intake tube. Basically just pulling the wires from the 4 wire plug that is there now and connecting them to a 3 wire plug for the MAF and a 2 wire plug for the IAT. Would this work or has anyone tried it?

doubt that you get any gain from it.

It would be better though to have the IAT temp sensor in the intake manifold though.

As stated originally....looking at it more from an appearance standpoint. But I can definately see the advantage of putting the IAT in the manifold.

Just wanting to know if my thoughts would work physically before I go cutting wires and all under the hood, cause I don't see why it wouldn't work on paper.

If you are wanting to go through all that trouble I'd look at the 4'' maf from lingenfelter. It's like 300 but you could see a gain from less restriction in the intake system. Along with moving the IAT sensor to a different location.

Thanks man. I went to Lingenfelter's site to take a look at that MAF and see that they actually have the adapter for what I was considering doing. Thanks for the post cause it got me going in the right direction.

Hmmm...interesting cause side by side the ones on my Formula and Truck are the same size and I know the Formula's is stock cause I'm the original owner. As is the truck's because it's a GM MAF and is the MAF with the IAT in it.

It's possible I'm wrong, but everything I've researched says the MAF with the divorced IAT is 75mm (used on f and some y-bodies), and the MAF with the integrated IAT is 85mm (used on Z06's and trucks)

Well I'm curious now, cause when I thought about doing this about 3 months back I pulled the one off the car before realizing it was a different hookup and looking at them they appeared to be the same size. I'll measure them both with a set of calipers this weekend and if I'm mistaken, than I apologize for not knowing myself, but I'll post up the results.
