Smile switched to synthetic Oil.

On my last Oil chainged I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic oil I also used the mobil 1 oil filter thay say the filter is better for use with synthetic oil hope I get some good results with the combo. I was also wondering who els uses mobil 1 and how well thay think it is and if its worth buying the $10 mobil 1 oil filter thanks.

i wouldn't switch with that many miles keuka...thats just me tho. i've run mobil 1 in my truck since the first oil change, actually running supertech (wal mart brand) synthetic now, its mobil 1 in a different bottle and about half the cost for the exact same stuff.

I use mobile 1 and the longer Wix filter. Filter is about $5 and is as good as any other filter barring the amsoil filters that are suppose to be the best.

Any proof of this?
After a little research it appears the supertech is not made by one specific supplier, but various ones in different regions. After all the threads and discussions I have read about oil lately I might just switch to the supertech myself. I have seen little to no real evidence that any synthetic oil is any better than any other within a reasonable lifespan of an engine.

i have no written visual proof, my uncle who is in the oil biz. says the same company makes both and it is private labeled. either way, if it is or isn't I've been running it for probably 20k miles (started when the truck had ~93k on it) and have had no issues at all. couldn't be happier!

I ran Mobil1 oil and filter in my Tahoe from about 5K to 205K. I could stretch changes to 5K according to oil analysis. Ran great and burned zero oil when I traded it in. Switching to Amsoil in the new ride primarily to see if I can get around 10K between changes. Original factory oil was loaded with metals from breakin at about 2K when I changed. We'll see how the Amsoil hold up.

amsoil can't go any longer than mobil 1 can. I sold amsoil and m1 and used both in various cars. the main thing when running oil for that long of a period is keeping a good clean filter on the thing. m1 with a fresh filter at ~4-5k miles and a top off will do just as well as amsoil in the same setting.
